Switching to Paid
Signing up for SimplePay starts you on a free 30-day trial. To keep processing payroll after the trial, you'll need to switch to a paid account.
The 30-Day Trial Period¶
Your trial runs for 30 days, and you always get the full period before billing begins – even if you switch to a paid plan early. Switching early simply registers your intention to convert – you still won't be billed until the 30 days are up. We've built it this way so that you have time to set up your account properly and run payroll at least once before your first invoice arrives.
How to Switch to a Paid Account¶
You have three options:
During your trial: Automatically switch to paid after trial expiry¶
- Go to the Profile icon () > Billing > Billing Method.
- Tick the Automatically switch to paid after trial expiry box.
- Click Save.
What auto-switch actually does
Ticking this box doesn't switch your account immediately. It schedules the switch to happen automatically once the 30-day period is up.
After your trial expires: Via the email link¶
When your trial ends, you'll receive an email with a link to switch to paid. Click the link.
After your trial expires: From Billing Method¶
- Go to the Profile icon > Billing > Billing Method.
- Click Switch to Paid.
- Click Save.
Your data and billing
All your data from the trial period is transferred automatically, so you can continue processing right where you left off. We bill in advance, so we'll send your first invoice as soon as you've switched.
If Your Trial Expires Without Action¶
If you've taken no action by the end of your 30-day free trial period, your account becomes read-only immediately, and remains so for up to three months. You can still log in and view your data, but you can't process payroll or make any changes until you switch to paid.
From the read-only state, you still have two options:
- Switch to a paid account: From the Profile icon > Billing > Billing Method, as described above.
- Close your account: If you don't want to continue with SimplePay, see How do I delete/close my account? for steps.
If you don't take any action within three months of the end of your trial, your read-only account will be automatically closed.
